Guidelines in Doing Business Presentation

Doing a business presentation in front of the investors, your bosses and other top executives could be a very nerve wracking experience. You know that there’s a big pressure for your presentation.

You have big responsibility in delivering that report or speech so you must do everything to make the presentation perfect. Now, the first thing you do is forget about the butterflies in your stomach and start following these guidelines that will make everything easier for you:

  1. Study about the business presentation flow – you have to know exactly what phase or theme you have to discuss. As a speaker you know very well the subject that you will discuss. So when your boss told you to present in front of the investors then you have to ask him “particularly in what area of the business” now for sure your boss will give you a brief then you should work on it.
  2. Work on your speech – it is great to work on your speech first. Concentrate on the things that you want to discuss with your audience. Make drafts until you come up with perfect speech that will cover everything. Now, you might as well do extra work by memorizing your speech. It is best to speak facing the audience rather than reading your speech from a piece of paper.
  3. Prepare your visual presentation – now that you finished your speech it is time to create visual presentation to present while you are speaking in front of your guests. It would be great to use visual aids to deliver your message clearly if you need you can use high tech things like touch screen film or holographic projection. Anything that will make your presentation more effective but of course avoid going overboard as well. Make sure that the visual aids or presentation will not become a distraction.
  4. Prepare notes for the people in the audience – before you speak it would be great to give a summary or notes of your discussion to the people in the audience. It would look formal and you will appear totally prepared for your speech. This is also good so your audience will have reference. For example, if you will be discussing certain data or figures like profits and budget then it is really advisable to put it on the note that you will give to them. This way when you start discussing the graphs and figures they will know where you got the data and they will be able to see it themselves. When you don’t have this the tendency is they will interrupt your speech to look for proof or reference for your data. So it is better to be prepared than be interrupted.
  5. Look smart – last but of course not the least, you have to present yourself smartly. You should dress up well to look credible in front of these executives, investors and other people in the audience. You don’t have to put heavy makeup, just make it light so you will look intelligent and presentable at the same time.

These are the guidelines that you could follow when your boss assigned you to do a business presentation or any presentation for that matter.
